History
There are two balancing prices determined by the IMO:
- The Provisional Balancing Price, which is the dollar per MWh price calculated in accordance with clause 7A.3.8(b).
- The Final Balancing Price, which is the dollar per MWh price calculated in accordance with clause 7A.3.10.
The Balancing price for a given Trading Interval will normally equal the STEM clearing price for that Trading Interval. However, a different balancing price may apply if the real-time effective demand deviates from the total demand expected based on the combined bilateral and STEM positions of the Market Participants.
The IMO must make the values of Provisional & Final Balancing prices available from the Market Web-Site for each Trading Interval in each completed Trading Day in the previous 12 calendar months.
Please note that the Balancing data is calculated 2 and 3 days after the relevant trading day and is dependant on STEM trading results and system load information. The Balancing data is an estimate based on data provided by other parties at the time and may therefore be subject to change.
Further information can be found in the Market Rules and the Market Summary Document.
The following table contains links for each trading day for which the Balancing Prices Historical Summary Data is available. The Balancing Prices Historical Summary Data is available from either Market Commencement (21 September 2006), or for the last year, up to the latest date for which the data is available. Click on a trading day link to see the Summary Data for that date.
After 1 July Provisional & Final Balancing price will only be available via the Market Participant Interface (MPI) or to the public by request only. Please see the Market Documents and Confidentiality page for more details.
