History
There are three balancing prices determined by the IMO:
- The Marginal Cost Administrative Price (MCAP). This is the dollar per MWh price calculated in accordance with clause 6.14.2.
- The Upward Deviation Administrative Price (UDAP). This is the amount calculated under clause 6.14.6.
- The Downward Deviation Administrative Price (DDAP). This is the amount calculated under clause 6.14.5.
The MCAP for a given Trading Interval will normally equal the STEM clearing price for that Trading Interval. However, a different balancing price will apply if the real-time effective demand deviates by more than ±5% from the total demand expected based on the combined bilateral and STEM positions of the Market Participants.
The IMO must make the values of MCAP, UDAP and DDAP available from the Market Web-Site for each Trading Interval in each completed Trading Day in the previous 12 calendar months.
Please note that the Balancing data is calculated 2 days after the relevant trading day and is dependant on STEM trading results and system load information. The Balancing data is an estimate based on data provided by other parties at the time and may therefore be subject to change.
Further information can be found in the Market Rules and the Market Summary Document.
The following table contains links for each trading day for which the Balancing Prices Historical Summary Data is available. The Balancing Prices Historical Summary Data is available from either Market Commencement (21 September 2006), or for the last year, up to the latest date for which the data is available. Click on a trading day link to see the Summary Data for that date.
