IMO Board

The IMO Board was created in January 2005 and was appointed by the Minister for Energy at that time.

The Board is the Wholesale Electricity Market's governing body. The CEO works closely with the Board to implement its decisions and strategies.

Guided and directed by the Electricity Industry Act 2004, the Board consists of three independent Directors: two non-executive Directors and a Chairman who meet monthly with the CEO to perform the functions, determine the policies and control the affairs of the IMO.

The Board approves rule changes, monitors compliance within the Rules and makes recommendations or imposes penalties.
