CORPORATE ANNOUNCEMENT: Appointment of Mr Allan Dawson as Chief Executive Officer of the Independent Market Operator

The Chair of the IMO, Mr John Kelly, today announced the appointment of Allan Dawson as Chief Executive Officer of the Independent Market Operator, the company which operates the wholesale electricity market in WA.

Mr Kelly said Mr Dawson's appointment was the successful outcome of a national search following the resignation of the inaugural CEO, Ms Anne Nolan, in December.

"Mr Dawson has considerable experience of electricity markets internationally, including serving as General Manager Market Operations in the company managing the New Zealand wholesale electricity market, and five years as Chief Executive Officer of the company managing the Singapore wholesale electricity market", he said.

"His experience in these roles means that he is well qualified to guide the IMO through the next years of its development", he said.

Mr Dawson, who is from New Zealand, will take up his role on 4th March 2008.

CORPORATE ANNOUNCEMENT: Chief Executive Officer Position

13 November 2007

Mr John Kelly, the Chair of the Independent Market Operator, today released the following statement:

“I advise, with great regret, that Ms Anne Nolan has resigned from her position as the Chief Executive Officer of the Independent Market Operator.

Since her appointment as  CEO in April 2006, Ms Nolan has played an essential lead role in the implementation of the electricity market in Western Australia.  She was instrumental in the successful commencement of energy trading in the market in September 2006 as well as the success of the initial stages of market operation.

Ms Nolan’s resignation will become effective from 7 December 2007.

The IMO Board has initiated a local and national search for a new CEO, including advertising the position in the national press in the near future.

 Ms Dora Guzeleva, who is the IMO’s current Manager Market Administration, will initially act in the CEO’s role after Ms Nolan's departure.”

NEWS RELEASE: Electricity Market Start Announced
