IMO Board

The IMO Board was created in January 2005 and was appointed by the Minister for Energy.

The Board is the Wholesale Electricity Market's governing body. The Chief Executive Officer works closely with the Board to implement its decisions and strategies.

The Board is guided and directed by the Electricity Industry Act 2004. The Board comprises three independent directors - two non-executive Directors and a Chairman who meet monthly to perform the functions, determine the policies and control the affairs of the IMO.

The Board is the primary governing body of the market. It approves rule changes, monitors compliance within the rules and makes recommendations or penalties.
