Ancillary Services

Ancillary Services, as defined in the glossary (chapter 11) of the Market Rules, refers to a service that is required to maintain Power System Security and Power System Reliability, faciliate orderly trading in electricity and ensure that electricity supplies are of acceptable quality.

The following Ancillary Services are defined in the Market Rules:

  • Load Following
  • Spinning Reserve
  • Load Rejection Reserve
  • Dispatch Support
  • System Restart
